The Rand Corporation's mission is to help improve policy and decision making through research and analysis. It has a policy document that recommends the U.S. to re-think its policy in the Middle East, based on looking at the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Iran in a new way; to look beyond the Sunni-Shia divide and to consider the issues of political ideologies and governance.
